Our school swimming carnival

On Monday, we took part in our school swimming carnival for the first time. Some of us felt a bit nervous, excited and worried before the carnival because we didn't know what to expect.

We all walked down to the pool as a class and we sat in our house colour groups on the stands.  We had to listen to know when to line up for our races.  The water was very cold at the start of the day because the weather was a bit rainy and there hadn't been a lot of sun for the last couple of days.

The events we were able to go in included freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. We also had a year 3 game in the pool where we had to push someone on a boogie board across the pool and back again.

We had fun at the swimming carnival. We cheered our teams on until we almost lost our voices.  After the day we were surprised that the carnival wasn't as hard we thought it might have been and that some of us even won our races.  It was especially exciting that the team that won had never won the swimming carnival before.

  1. Dear Year 3 Blue,
Congratulations on your first school swimming carnival! It was great to see the photos of you swimming. Lucky we had such good weather.
I love swimming carnivals but I find them very noisy and I often go home with a headache from cheering.
Now you know what happens, how do you feel about going to the swimming carnival next year?
By the way, I don't think Conway's ever won a swimming carnival before either... GO Conway in 2014!
    See you soon,
    Mrs Mead
