There's too many elephants in this blog

Last Monday we celebrated Book week and we started the day with going to the Nano Nagle hall and had a special Book week assembly.  In class our teacher gave us an elephant to trace onto paper. We then coloured the elephants in and cut them out.  Later we glued the elephants onto black cardboard.  We did this because we were celebrating Book Week and the book we were looking at was called "There's too many elephants in this house."

The book has a boy called Eric who has too many pet elephants in his house.   There is an elephant in the dining room, one in the kitchen helping to make toast, one in the bathroom and one in the hallway walking on some red carpet and he was good at playing hide and seek.

Eric's mother said "There are too many elephants in this house.  They have to go now!"  Eric said, "NO! Not my elephants!"  Eric found a very, very, very, VERY big box and he cut a circle in the top for a chimney, a square at the sides for a window and he cut a rectangle for a door.  He made the box into an elephant house, just for his elephants.  All of the elephants walked into their new home in a long elephant line, with the elephants hanging onto the tail of the elephant in front of them. When he wanted to play with the elephants, Eric would yell, "Come on out, elephants."

Later on in the day, we had Buddy Reading with the year 5's. Although we liked doing buddy reading, it wasn't as good as we thought it was going to be. We coloured in a page full of elephants and we had to try and count how many elephants there were on the page. We also had a book swap, were we could swap a book we have brought in for another book. We donated a gold coin to help children who don't have books in their school.

The day was really fun and exciting. We all had a really good day.

Do you like elephants?

If you had a lot of elephants in your house, what do you think your mother would say?

Have you read the book, "There's too many elephants in this house"?
