Our Psalm posters

In Religion, we have been learning about prayer and especially about some of the psalms.  Psalms are little prayers that can be found in the Old Testament.  We are learning in class about the psalms of
Thanksgiving and Praise.

Yesterday we started to work in groups of three to create a psalm poster.  Miss Gierach gave each group a different psalm. All of the psalms were ones of Praise.  When we first read the psalm, we had to highlight the words of praise in the psalm.  Then we talked in our group about the images that we could draw to match the psalm. We planned our drawings in our scrap book first and then we started to do our posters.

We had to think carefully about what we were going to draw and and where the drawings would go on our posters.  Once we had decided what our poster might look like, we glued the psalm on and then started to decorate the posters.

It was fun making the posters because we got to work with our friends. It was also fun because we got to use colours and our group could decide on what pictures to draw.  We were able to be creative while we were making the posters.  It was a little bit of a challenge to make sure that we understand the meaning of the psalm before we started the poster.  Some of the words in the psalms were a bit tricky to understand because the psalms were written a long time ago.

Most of us really enjoyed creating the posters and being able to put our drawings onto a poster.  Soon we will be writing our own psalms!    Here are some of our posters. We hope you enjoy them.
